Matching Up

Thank goodness my knitting is matching up better than my teams did this week. (Not talking about that. Especially not the part where I lost our bet and had to pick up the tab from when Valiant Husband and I went out to eat and watch the game, since my team lost — in a most embarrassing fashion.)

I am getting near the end of the right front of the Ruched Cardi. If I can take advantage of time off for the holidays to finish the sleeves by New Year’s I will be in good shape to meet my deadline.

I am also close to casting off the third section of the square rainbow blanket. The first two sections look good together.

Also received two preorders for baby blankets which will have an April deadline. I was glad but…enough deadlines already! I have enough of them with Boss Lady’s appeals! I don’t need them on my knitting projects! Vent over.

TGI almost Friday!

Progress Report. Or, Photo Bombed by a Feline.

Been absolutely swamped at work again. Boss Man and Boss Lady are lucky I like them so well. Had to ask for overtime that I don’t know when I’m going to have a chance to do. Also about to blow a gasket at Pushy Co-Worker. It is not my job to hold her hand and give her a gold star, especially when she is 20 years older than me. Not to mention that Goody Two Shoes Co-Worker wants to talk business when I am on my lunch break. When she had already e-mailed me about the same thing.

Anyway the good news is that Cinderella is going to the ball! We got our tickets and Valiant Husband squealed with glee at the same time I did. Who knew men could squeal with glee like that?

I have great progress on the Fish Creek hoodie but will have to set it aside to make sure I meet my deadlines for the Square Rainbow baby blanket and the Ruched Cardi. Here is the Fish Creek hoodie. The kitty decided he wanted to be in the picture.

And here is the left front of the Ruched Cardi.

It gets pleated along the side that looks a little funky. I am trying to match up the stripes on the right front which is tricky.

And I’m plugging away over halfway done with the third section (out of four) on the Square Rainbow blanket.

Here’s hoping I finish everything in time! Thank goodness no one has been nice enough to deserve a knitted gift for Christmas haha. Or else I would be scrambling on that too.

Explain to me why I can’t just hightail it to the beach until my mood improves?

Color Me Happy

…well, happy with the Team Colors sweater at least!

The sleeve is coming along as quickly as I had hoped. The stationary jogless stripe technique that calls for you to slip the first stitch on the second round of the new color, worked reasonably well. And I am very satisfied with how the colors pulled together. Now I just have to do the other sleeve and the detail at the neckline. Barring Circumstances Beyond My Control, I am still on target for my deadline.

Work is another matter entirely. Boss Lady dumped TWO more monster projects on me and Boss Man’s work is still way behind. As much as I was trying to get things done everything was taking ten times longer than it should have and the attorneys don’t always appreciate that you are in a time crunch even though they HAVE to meet their deadline. I see overtime in my future. Not that I couldn’t use the money. But I get burned out of overtime really fast, and discouraged from my efforts to visit the gym more often. Sigh.

At least I am done for now and sitting at the salon with goop on my head so I can have fabulous hair for the rest of the weekend. TGIF!

Blah blah blah

So I’m in the doldrums on both the Team Colors sweater and the Beau Cloche hat. Several inches of the same old thing. No increases or decreases. No pattern on the sweater. Almost none on the hat.

On top of that, Boss Lady dumped two monster projects on me. And Boss Man isn’t going to be entirely happy I have to push his work to the side. This is what they get when they reduce staff to cut costs. I will likely need to come in on Saturday to catch up. Ugh. That’s what I get when they reduce staff to cut costs.

On top of that, I had to coordinate among the ladies at work to celebrate Goody Two Shoes Co-Worker’s birthday. Said co-worker aggravates me to no end but since she coordinates the other birthdays someone else has to do hers. I was nice enough to step up. I even suggested I would get flowers and a balloon since it’s her big 3-0. Then I got grief from Pushy Co-Worker that I wasn’t planning to get the flowers from Whole Foods (since it is more expensive and I didn’t want to go there just for the flowers when I needed other things at the run-of-the-mill supermarket and I could also get the balloon there). No good deed goes unpunished. Next year I will suggest that Pushy should coordinate for Goody Two Shoes’ birthday.

On top of that, I had to have a very uncomfortable medical procedure on Monday. I can’t believe some of the things they don’t knock you out for…

On top of that, my not-always-better half has been difficult, except about the medical procedure.

All in all it has not been a good week to be me.

At least I can’t complain about the weather. I stepped outside this morning and had a temperature-gasm. Caught this sunset by the lake. So that was something at least.
