This was too cute not to share!
She decided to use the skein of Tangier and my aunt’s scarf as a pillow.
Valiant Husband and I went to the ball last night. And it was fabulous. But we were out until after 2:30 in the morning. And we are turning into fuddy duddies who can’t do late nights like we used to. So we barely had energy to watch the Super Bowl today. Valiant Husband dozed off through most of it and I kept having to wake him up for the good commercials including one with Brett Farve starting a new business and creating a web site which features a cameo by the guys from our meat market, and I kept having to holler at him to watch the end of the game which got exciting. Anyway I just wanted to share the kitty cuteness. I will have lots of pictures from the ball in my next post. Hope your week gets off to a good start in the meantime!
Really nothing new going on. Trying to catch up on chores around the house now that football season is over and I don’t have every other Sunday taken up by a Saints game. Also trying to catch up on work now that Boss Lady has gone to working part time. Boss Man could keep me busy full time in and of himself. Started a diet plan and blew my points for the week on the first day. A streusel muffin for breakfast and double cheeseburger for lunch will kill you if you let them. Before you have pizza for dinner. Had a lovely morning yesterday curled up on the sofa with Valiant Husband and both cats.
Still plugging away on both baby blankets, and the Ruched Cardi. I have less than two weeks left and seriously need to finish the Cardi. I forced myself to start seaming it yesterday but now I am not quite sure about the next step since it looks like it’s calling for a button band along the front and an i-cord edging along the neck. Might need another visit to Helpful Shop Owner. Or I might just try to figure it out after I get a couple of chores done. Also started the scarf for my aunt. I’m liking the color transition and since the fiber is mostly silk and cotton I think it could be good for spring.
I have also been wanting a better case for my interchangeable needles, which came in a case which is rather flimsy and doesn’t give sufficient room for the extra cords and joins and stoppers that I acquired as I also acquired the habit of working on multiple projects at once. Younger Sister made me some needle cases for Christmas a few years ago. They are very handy for all the odd needles I was purchasing before I finally broke down and invested in a set of interchangeable needles. She had given me the remnants of the fabrics she had left over. So I took the remnants to the fabric store and picked the almost-black polka dots with multicolor mums for the outside and the aqua with red cherry blossoms for the inside. I love an oriental type vibe. Then I will see if I can make the pockets with the remnants. I also have two sets of double pointed needles in every size known to Man, both short/six inch and long/eight inch, and I seriously need to organize them since they just came in plastic wrappers so I am going to make a case for them too. I have some ideas based off of things I saw online that weren’t quite what I needed. Not to mention I can make BOTH cases for less than it would cost to go online and order ONE case. Thank goodness Valiant Husband is an engineer so he can help me with this!
Happy Sunday! Back to the chores and the Cardi for me.
I think I have shared a couple of pictures of the white kitten but I don’t think I’ve ever shared a picture of his sister.
After busting my rear end working overtime I decided to splurge on new shoes for the ball, since I never have splurged on shoes to the extent of shopping at Saks, and I figure I’m only going to a ball once in my life. Better to splurge on the shoes than the gown since I’m much more likely to wear the shoes again. And I did already have my gown and got a steal on it. We won’t discuss how the seamstress is going to have to let the gown out…back to the gym for me, ugh.
I did have the whole experience of going downtown to the fancy department store and sitting on the lounging sofa in the shoe salon and the salesman bringing bottled water and trying to ensure my total satisfaction (as in, upsell me), which I needed after the week I had! Even if my budget meant making a beeline for the sale rack and refusing to be upsold.
All quiet on the knitting front. Just trying to meet my deadlines for my current projects. And hoping for a quieter week so I can make some progress!
Been absolutely swamped at work again. Boss Man and Boss Lady are lucky I like them so well. Had to ask for overtime that I don’t know when I’m going to have a chance to do. Also about to blow a gasket at Pushy Co-Worker. It is not my job to hold her hand and give her a gold star, especially when she is 20 years older than me. Not to mention that Goody Two Shoes Co-Worker wants to talk business when I am on my lunch break. When she had already e-mailed me about the same thing.
Anyway the good news is that Cinderella is going to the ball! We got our tickets and Valiant Husband squealed with glee at the same time I did. Who knew men could squeal with glee like that?
I have great progress on the Fish Creek hoodie but will have to set it aside to make sure I meet my deadlines for the Square Rainbow baby blanket and the Ruched Cardi. Here is the Fish Creek hoodie. The kitty decided he wanted to be in the picture.
And here is the left front of the Ruched Cardi.
It gets pleated along the side that looks a little funky. I am trying to match up the stripes on the right front which is tricky.
And I’m plugging away over halfway done with the third section (out of four) on the Square Rainbow blanket.
Here’s hoping I finish everything in time! Thank goodness no one has been nice enough to deserve a knitted gift for Christmas haha. Or else I would be scrambling on that too.
Explain to me why I can’t just hightail it to the beach until my mood improves?
Though I don’t paint as a hobby (when would I have time or money after all the knitting?) I have done a few Painting with a Twist classes and have been reasonably happy with the results. This was probably because the teacher will touch up anything you aren’t happy with. Not because I really have any knack for painting.
A few weeks ago I saw that they were offering a “paint your pet” class. I immediately thought of painting my Sweetie Pie who shared my life for over 12 years until last year when her age finally caught up with her. So I signed up and sent in a photograph. I also tried to get a friend or two to go with me but didn’t have any luck.
Yesterday evening was time for the class. When I got there and saw the sketch of Sweetie, it was like I was seeing her for the first time in over a year. The background wasn’t anything to worry about since it wasn’t an exact science. I seemed to do well enough getting the effect of the fur. I knew the eyes had to be just right so I got help with that. When I stepped back and looked at the finished painting I was very pleased and I know it will be something special to remember Sweetie. She was my first pet and best friend and will always have a resting place under our pear tree and a place in my heart that is just for her.
I did feel a little like I was cheating on the Team Colors sweater though. I still haven’t caught back up from where I had to start over…
