Valiant Husband did his best to make sure I was taken care of this morning before he bailed on me to spend the rest of the day — and evening — at a Mardi Gras parade. (One of the factors that has deterred me from going to Mardi Gras parades since I moved to New Orleans, is that you have to get there so early to find parking along the street and stake out your spot along the route, that it becomes an all-day event. NOT conducive to some of my other endeavors.)
He took me out for breakfast at a cute local diner with decor that probably hasn’t been updated since the 1980’s and the waitresses call all of the customers “baby” and “honey.” And they make the French toast with actual French bread.
He also got me just what I wanted for Valentine’s Day — an excuse to start a new project!
I will be using the red and white yarn to make the Love Socks which I have been obsessed with since I saw them, and dead set on starting them on Valentine’s Day. However I was a Good Megan and just cast off Aunt’s scarf this morning. So between that and the Little Lamb blanket which I also cast off earlier in the week, I have TWO projects OFF of the needles. So I feel that I can justify it to put ONE project ON the needles. Especially since Valiant Husband bailed on me to go to a Mardi Gras parade. Bother when Valentine’s Day falls on the weekend, when it is Mardi Gras weekend. At least I get mushrooms on my pizza…
